Welcome
to the Anno Domini Foundation
Excursions
and walking tours of Rome
The
Anno Domini, or "Year of our
Lord" is possibly the cornerstone within the rich and
extensive history of the Eternal City. It is the year marking
a distinct event, which, albeit ignored at that time by Imperial
Rome, was to drastically change the city. We believe that
by understanding the importance of this central point in time,
one is able to better appreciate the vital role Rome has played
in the drama of World History and Civilization, and most importantly
its implications, which have influenced the whole world and
last till this very day.
We
invite you to join us in the search of Knowledge and Art,
Wisdom and Beauty. Join our team of expert historians, archeologists,
philosophers, artists. We will recount the story of the greatest
of all cities, the Caput Mundi,
or capital of the world, with its secrets and intrigues, its
art and architectural masterpieces, its people and culture.
This great story begins on April 21st, 753 BC... will it ever
end? Not as long as the Colosseum stands, according to the
Venerable Bede's prophecy:
Quamdiu
stabit Colyseus stabit et Roma.
Quamdiu cadet Colyseus cadet et Roma.
Quamdiu cadet Roma cadet et mundus.
(prophecy
by the Venerable Bede, 700 AD ca.)
"As
long as the Colosseum stands, Rome will stand.
When the Colosseum collapses, Rome will collapse.
When Rome collapses, the world will collapse."
